Lunchtime Behaviour

From time to time the behaviour of some children at lunchtimes gives us cause for concern.  Continual misbehaviour is obviously unacceptable.  There are a large number of children in the playground and we cannot allow the enjoyment and safety of the majority to be threatened by a few who ignore the rules.  An indoor lunchtime club is organised for some pupils experiencing difficulties, although attendance is voluntary and there are high expectations of behaviour.  Unfortunately in some instances it may be necessary to take the following steps:

  1. Misbehaviour is punished by the child being kept in during the lunch period.  A record will be kept of pupils who misbehave.
  2. Where a child persistently causes problems parents will be notified that should this behaviour continue he/she will not be allowed to stay at school during the lunchtime.
  3. Should matters not improve the pupil will be excluded at lunchtime.
  4. On return a significant change in behaviour will be expected, otherwise an indefinite ban will be imposed.

Note:
There have been several incidents in the past of children throwing food in the dining hall. This is unacceptable behaviour and any child who throws food will be excluded from school at lunchtime for one week

We fully appreciate that such action may cause parents considerable difficulties; however with your support and co-operation such a policy will benefit all pupils.
